WHY WWVA?

Our team of dedicated coaches is ready to lift Western Nebraska by the bootstraps and bring that Nebraska volleyball spirit to North Platte.

We believe that ALL athletes deserve an equal opportunity to develop skills and compete at the next level. When we invest in an athlete, we are investing in our community.

At WWVA, you will notice the difference. Our goal is to develop all athletes with a positive mindset, leadership skills, and intentional volleyball training.

We are here to create a mentally and physically healthy environment for young athletes to test themselves through challenging training and competition. Athletes will be encouraged every day by a supportive staff of coaches who will seek to actively improve the overall lives of these athletes by being positive mentors who both know the game and strive to create a balance between sport and life.

Celeste friesen

Club Director/ 12 Mustangs Head Coach/ 13 Mavericks Head Coach

A little bit about our WWVA founder/club director!

Coming from Atlanta, Celeste Friesen brings so much coaching and playing experience to the court. She has 12 years of elite club volleyball coaching under her belt, qualifying 4 teams to USAV Nationals, attending AAU Nationals all 12 years, and has been an assistant Director at TKVBC. With over 20 of her athletes going on to play in college at the Division 1 level, there is a plethora of knowledge to get our North Platte athletes to the next level. She has even worked with Dustin Watten who has trained THE Lexi Rodriguez!

Celeste is a former D1 Volleyball athlete as well as a former overseas Pro Volleyball athlete. Starting her Volleyball Career out at at Georgia State as a libero, then playing for Point Loma as a setter/libero, making a trip overseas to play pro for the London Mallory Eagles, and then finishing off her senior year at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She even got to play in Memorial stadium in the opening game for Volleyball Day In Nebraska!

She currently works as an ELL para at Adams and a volleyball coach at NPHS.

Celeste has made the decision to invest in North Platte's youth and bring new opportunities for volleyball right here in town!

“I am the Director of WWVA and my goal for the club is to improve our community and bring the joy of volleyball to North Platte. With over 12 years of club coaching experience, it only makes sense to invest in the city I will be calling home. I started playing volleyball when I was 6 years old and never stopped since. I played D1 at Georgia State breaking school records as a libero. My goal for these athletes is to make sure their club volleyball experience is everything I wished mine was. A positive environment, intentional learning, building confidence for on and off the court, and competing at the highest level. For the past 6 years, I worked side-by-side with my mom building her volleyball club in Georgia developing all-level athletes (beginner through Division 1) and now I get to spread my wings to Nebraska!

I hope you see how much this community means to me and the future of Nebraska volleyball.

Johanna Vedder

Club Administrator/ Financial Advisor

“I am the Club Administrator for WWVA. I can help answer any questions about billing, tournament schedules, and various other things about the club. I was born and raised in North Platte, graduated from Maxwell High School, and attended Mid Plains Community College. I moved to Georgia in 2023 and managed the TK Volleyball office and helped with managing tournaments but was drawn back to North Platte. I am so excited to help bring a new aspect of volleyball to this community. Looking forward to bringing a positive learning environment for these athletes!
